It's a curious premise, though would there be a Continent-wide version of this map? It might help in explaining why Mexico got balkanized...

The only other maps of this universe so far are of central america and Mexico. I probably wont make a map of north america for some time, but I new map of central america will come out shortly.

The reason why Mexico was balkanized was due to renewed insurrections in northern Mexico after a more successful Texas Revolution. The resulting wars lasted much longer than OTL and the Mexican republics were able to survive with support from Texas and Central America

If this had happened I imagine that the Mormons would have tried to secede at some stage. In the real world an independent Deseret was the original plan. Utah statehood was the booby prize that they accepted because the alternative was a war with the U.S. where they'd eventually be wiped out or depopulated by the fighting and rendered politically irrelevant.

I don't really know how things would have happened, I don't know enough of the history, but the potential is there and I wanted to point that out.

Oh I know. But the origional plan in OTL was to apply as a USA territory at the same time as Texas and California, but both of them applied for statehood instead, and when Deseret did the same, it was persecuted for certain aspects of Mormon beliefs and the fact that their claim took up most of the south west.
In this timeline, the Mormons apply as a Texas territory and they werent persecuted because of the immigration they attracted, which Texas badly needed.
They are the largest state :)
