Holy Atlantean Empire (iPad Idea #13) by DaFreak47 Holy Atlantean Empire (iPad Idea #13) by DaFreak47
Just brainstorming. An old idea I'm trying to flesh out. Here's a few details.

-Atlas is the home of the Holy Atlantean Emperor, the royal palace, an important Atlantean religious center, and the tallest mountain on the continent.
-Atlantis is the Mid-Atlantic Ridge as it was around 10 million years ago.
-"Atlantis" is kinda like the Holy Roman Empire. It is called an empire when in reality it is made up of 9 kingdoms and the fiefdom where the "Emperor" resides. The kingdoms act independently and go to war with one another.
-Currently, Autochthon is invading all of its neighbors and has made Mestor a puppet state.
-All of the kingdoms, with the exceptions of Autochthon and Mestor, have colonial empires (I put possible colonies next to the countries).
-The 10 kingdoms are named after the 10 sons of Poseidon who legend says ruled the island as kings of their own lands across the island. Obviously, those legendary kings are long dead and the royal families intermarry and whatnot.

Pretty much all parts of the idea are up for change. The only things set in stone are the names of the kingdoms and the continent itself, If you have any ideas, I am VERY OPEN to input.

They have a religion similar to ancient Greeks, the major difference being that Poseidon is placed above other minor gods as the creator of Atlantis and the source of all Atlantean life.

No, each area is likened to one of the 10 kingdoms of Atlantis. There are no "records" as to the names and locations of the 10 kingdoms, so I named them after the ten kings, the sons of Poseidon. The areas listed beside each kingdom are the areas colonized by them. I specify some as being for "trade" and "missionary" purposes as they would not have left a lasting influence observable today. The island itself is the Mid-Atlantic Ridge lifted about 10,000 feet from where it is now, roughly where it was around 3 million years ago. It is about the size of Greenland, so its more of a subcontinent.

Considering the fact that I made this on an iPad in the navigator seat of a moving car, I think it turned out okay.

The Aborigines of Australia might be the best comparison.

No, they left Africa around 125,000 years ago to escape the desertification occurring in the Sahara. They combed the beaches of modern day Morocco to survive until the harsh conditions forced them to create new means of finding food. The weak and dim-witted died off and the intelligent built boats to fish. By some shear chance of luck, some landed in the southern islands of Elasippus and their descendants spread across the entire continent. They had the look of early Negroids.
