American Pacific States by DaFreak47 American Pacific States by DaFreak47
NOTICE: This map was made soley for the entertainment and enjoyment of myself and is admittedly very unlikely, so PLEASE dont fill my comments with contradictions. Im aware

So basically
-After the Spanish-American War, the USA saw the potential for owning territory in SE Asia and so put more effort into putting down native rebellions in the Philippines and was able to keep them and eventually admit them as a state.
-After the defeat of Japan by America in WW2, instead of simply occupying Japan, the USA took control of Japan and eventually the rest of its conquered/aquired land, besides eastern China.
-After the Korean War, South Korea was controlled by the USA and North Korea by China.
-The different territories of the Pacific were separately admitted as US states during a time of American "Manifest Destiny".

Thanks, but as someone pointed out to me, Asians would become a massive proportion of the US population.

I always secretly wished that we took control of Japan and the Pacific costal countries after the wars in the area, it would be interesting seeing America with territories and states spread out so far in the world. Another great map.

Oh, and nice reference to the Republic of Ezo. That is a nice touch for history buffs.

Back when I made this, someone pointed out to me that the population of these territories would be more than that of all current US states and territories combined :D Having to govern that many non-white, non-Christian citizens would be very problematic. And given that, forcing democracy on such a large section of the world's population goes against much of our values. Although we did do it in the Philippines and Puerto Rico.

Hmm... perhaps you could try to come up with a backstory as I find that this map of yours really has potential.

Its probably one of my least likely maps. Its pretty old and has no real story

Yeah. Maps like this are a decent argument for why photoshop maps are generally lower quality. They may look nice, but their backgrounds tend to be rather less well thought out, that is even assuming the author has the capability to think at all.

This map has a POD in the spanish-american war and has WWII and the Korean war largely resembling OTL, except for the decision to annex Japan which has zero backstory besides Truman doing it for the lulz.

Stick to the old worldA basemap and UCS from here on out and don't decieve people with shiny maps that display zero attempts to even think logically.

Come off it. Screw worldA and even the Q-BAM if they get in the way of presenting things of interest. What’s wrong with pretty maps, regardless of plausibility? What’s wrong with letting people look at and present the world–or a slice thereof–in a different way? A new perspective leads to new ideas.

Coming from someone who prefers UCS to anything else (Tacos can immolate itself), SCREW UCS if it gets in the way similarly.

Having said that, Japan would EASILY be seven states. Hokkaido, Kyushu, Shikoku, West Honshu (OTL Kansai+Chugoku), Honshu (Chubu+part of Kanto), and North Honshu (rest of Kanto and Tohuku).

People make maps that strike their own fancy at their own leisure. It doesn't have to always make sense, and he clearly stated here multiple times that it wasn't meant to be plausible here.

The basemaps and unified color scheme from AH.com are not required for the entire internet. Which is why I only browse the threads there and generally avoid the rather unnecessarily abrasive community. I'm glad the best of them have been on dA showing off their work for years.

Still, it'd take an alien space bat if America were to actually pull this off without a hitch.

Japan is nearly half the US Population, the US would have something like 500 million people if we absorbed all those countries.

Yeah but consider the insane imbalance this would cause in the House.

It would all depend how the house was portioned. If the new states were admitted piecemeal and accepted some more limited presentation in order to maintain balance, it may not be such a big deal.

Yeah I would say each home island is one state, and Honshu ends up being probably at least three.
